A woman from the Salampan village speaks about the sacrfices she made to save her sisters

My father is unable to do anything as he was burnt at the age of 3 and he has a nervous disorder. He has no male children and I am the eldest. There were 3 sisters after me. I looked after my father. My mother used to make Chili powder and pound flour to raise us. I go to work and also to school. During the conflict a group came to the house and asked for one person from our home to fight the war. I was about to sit for the O/L exam. So I decided to go instead of my sister, as they had to study. They told me to give my name and a date, so I said April 7th. I told my parents that if I didn’t go they would take my sisters and went to them in August 2006.
