We understood that forefathers have said that many centuries ago forests containing trees called ‘Thaan’ was in great amount and thereby this place was called “Thandiyady’. It was understood through forefathers that ‘Pillayar’ statue was kept against the ‘Thanthi’ tree.

பல நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் தாந்தி என்னும் மரக்காடுகள் இப்பகுதிகளில் அதிகளவு காணப்பட்டமையால் தாண்டியடி என அழைக்கப்பட்டதாக முன்னோர்கள் கூறியதாக அறிந்து கொண்டோம். முன்னோர்களினூடாக அறிந்து கொள்ளப்பட்டது தாந்தி மரத்தில் பிள்ளையார் சிலை சாத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டதாக அறிந்து கொள்ளப்பட்டது.
