Bomb blast
When the Meeladun Nabi function was organized in front of Godapitiya Mohideen Jumma Mosque on 23rd April 2009, all the religious leaders and dignitaries graced this occasion few minutes before the commencement of the function. All the guest and speakers were as quoted towards the main stage by the Godapitiya people.
When the procession nearing in the Mosque a bomb was blasted. This killed nearly 15 people, fortunately Sathath school students who stayed both side of the road had a narrow escape.

එදා 2009.04.23 දින ගොඩපිටිය මුහියාදීන් ජුම්මා පල්ලියේ මීලාන් නබිතුමාගේ උත්සවය සැමරීම සදහා සියල්ල සුදානම් කර තිබුණි.
එම උත්සවයට සහභාගි වීම ස දහා සියලු ආගම්වල නායකයන්ද පැමිණ සිටියා. උදේ උත්සවය ඇරඹීමට විනාඩි කීපයකට කලින් ප්‍රධාන අමුත්තන්. ආගමික ලක්ෂණයන්ගෙන් සමන්විත පෙරහැර ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගය ඔස්සේ ගොඩ සිටිය ජනතාවගේ රාදීස් වාදනය සමගින් ගමන් අරඹා තිබුනි. පෙරහැර ප්‍රධාන වේදිකාව කරා ළගා වෙමින් තබුණි එක පාරටම කිසිවෙකු බලාපොරොත්තු නොවූ මොහොතක බෝම්බය පිපිරුවේය. මේ සිද්ධියේදී 15 දෙනෙකු මිය ගියහ. සාදාන් කලා සංවිධානයේ සිසුන් අනූනමයෙන් ජීවිත බේරුණි.

அன்று 2009.04.23ஆந் திகதி. கொடபிட்டிய முஹியத்தீன் ஜூம்மா பள்ளிவாயல் முற்ற வெளியில் தேசிய மீலாதுன் நபி விழா கோலாகலமாக நடந்தேற ஆயத்தமாகி கொண்டிருந்த அந்நிகழ்விலே அனைத்து மதங்களினதும் தலைவர்கள் கலந்து கொள்ள வருகை தந்திருந்தனர். காலை நேரத்ல் விழா ஆரம்பிக்க சில வினாடிகளுக்கு முன் பிரதம அதிதிகள் சொற்பொழிவாளர்கள் அனைவரும் பிரதான வீதியிலே வாகன ஊர்வலத்துடன் கொடபிட்டிய மக்களின் றாதிப் நிகழ்ச்சியுடனும் கோலாகலமாக பிரதான மேடைக்கு அழைத்து வரப்பட்டனர். எதிர்பாராத விதமாக பள்ளிக்கு நேராக ஊர்வலம் பிரதான வீதியிலே வரும்பொழுது ஒரு பாதகனால் குண்டு வெடிப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. இதிலே 15 உயிர்கள் காவு கொள்ளப்பட்ட போதும் பாதையின் இரு பக்கங்களிலும் நின்ற ஸாதாத் கலையக மாணவர்கள் மயிரிழையில் உயிர் தப்பினர்.
