We were displaced in 1990. …………….. ………………. ………………. We lived in a camp. We couldn’t count the number of corpses. When we returned home after paying our last respects those thoughts kept haunting us. The sound of wailing ………………………. these events have deeply been entrenched in my heart. My mom fell ill and was in her deathbed. Our economic situation pushed us further down the precipice. There were instances when we only had one square meal a day. A similar life shall not come.

1990 වසරේදී අපේ උපන් ගමින් පිට වූ අප සරණාගතයන් වශයෙන් නන්නාටිමාන්, මුරුන්ගන්, මන්නාරම වැනි ස්ථානවල පදිංචි වුනෙමු. කුරිරු යුද්ධය නිසා මිය ගිය බොහෝ දෙනෙකුගේ මෘත ශරීර අපි දැක්කෙමු. ඒවාට අවසන් ගෞරව දැක්කුවෙමු. මිය ගිය අයගේ ඥාතීන්ගේ විලාප හඬ, එම දසුන් මගේ හිතේ තාමත් හොල්මන් කරයි. නරක් වූ සිය ගණන් මළ සිරුරු ඒවායෙන් හමන දුර්ගන්ධය එය හරියට අපායක් වාගේ. කායික හා මානසික වශයෙන් අප අත්දුටුවද වේදනා, අසනීප වූ මගේ මව, ආර්ථික දුෂ්කරතා මෙවන් තත්ත්වයන් නැවතත් උදා නොවිය යුතුයි.

1990ம் ஆண்டு எனது கிராமத்தில் இருந்து இடம் பெயர்ந்தனாங்கள். இருந்த இடங்கள் மன்னார், முருங்கன், நானாட்டான் போன்ற இடங்களில் இருந்து பின்பு மடு முகாமில் வசித்து வந்தோம். அங்கு நடந்த யுத்தத்தில் எத்தனை சடலங்கள், எண்ணிக்கொள்ள முடியாத நிலை. பாடசாலை உடைகளோடு நாங்கள் அவர்களின் உடல்களுக்கு மரியாதை செலுத்தியது. பின்பு வீட்டுக்கு வந்தால் அந்த எண்ணங்கள். அழுகைச் சத்தங்கள், உண்ண முடியாமல் உடல் அழுகிய மணங்கள் என்னால் தாங்க முடியாத ஒரு மனப்பாங்காக என்உள்ளத்தில் இன்றும் மறக்கவே முடியாது. பின்பு அங்கு இருந
