I was born in a village called Puthuvazhi. We had flood in 1957, when I was five years old. There was water allover and it was pitch dark since there was no electricity. We went to the Mosque by the bund but since all the village people have found refuge, there wasn’t enough space for us to stay. However we stayed the night and the next day moved to Silavaththurai and stayed there for three days.
Later we came and settled here. Earlier this place was like a forest. People cleared it and about 10 families stayed here. Later the relatives joined and now there are 50 families.
We got displaced in 1990 and went to Kalpity and Puththalam. We got displaced because LTTE had asked the Muslims to leave within 24 hours. Some people went with things they valued most and some went empty handed. We went there by sea, took the boat at early morning 6 and reached by 4pm. Hundreds of people came from Erukkalampity, Mannar and some other places. But there were no facilities. Later they sent people batch by batch to places like Kalpity and Nuraicholai. Some organizations started to help us.
We lived there for 20 years. Then we returned to our own village in 2001, cleared up our houses and built huts in the Mosque land and stayed there. We received paddy, money and other things from an organisation to do agriculture.
We came back in 2009. Though the Housing scheme got introduced we were not allowed to build house in this land. They claimed the land is for a pond. But this is where we were doing agriculture before. Anyway we built the house in someone else’s land. Later the toilet scheme was introduced, with much difficulty we somehow built it.
I got four children but one of them died in Puththalam which left me with three now. Before coming here we sold the house in Puththalam. If I knew that the President of the Agricultural Association would be troubling us without giving permission to build house I would have just stayed there.
One day Agricultural Association held a meeting. The senior person has asked the attendants their preference for appointing me as the new president. 30 people raised their hands. Only 3 people marked their preference to keep the same old president. But they had disagreement and started to fight, saying that there are not enough attendees to change the president. The current president has two tractors. He bought that using public’s money by selling the things he bought for public.
In future all the people should live in harmony without any ethnic or religious discrimination or status quo. I can never forget the displacement to Puthalam due to LTTE trouble.

පුදුවලි කියන ගමේ ඉපදුනේ. 1957 වසරේ දී ගංවතුර එනකොට මට අවුරුදු 05 යි. හැමතැනම ජලාශයක් වගේ. අඳුරුයි. ඒ කාලේ විදුලිය නැහැ. පුලක්කට්ටු පැත්තෙන් ගිහින් පල්ලියට යනකොට පල්ලියේ ඉඩ නැහැ. ගමේ ඔක්කොම පල්ලියේ හිටියේ. අපිත් පල්ලියට ගිහින් හිටියා. ඊළඟ දවසේ සිලාවතුරේ හිටියා. එහෙ දවස් තුනක් හිටියා. ඊට පසුව තමයි මෙහෙ ඇවිත් පදිංචි වුනේ. මුලදී මෙහෙ කැලෑවක්. පසුව හරියටම පවුල් දහයක් හිටියා. පසුව නෑදෑයින් ඇවිත් පදිංචි වෙලා දැන් පවුල් පනහක් විතර ඉන්නවා.
1990 වසරේ දී අවතැන් වෙලා කල්පිටිය පුත්තලම වගේ ගම්වලට ගියා. එල් ටී ටී ප්‍රශ්න නිසා මුස්ලිම් අය පැය විසි හතරක් ඇතුළත යන්න ඕන කිව්ව නිසා අවතැන් වෙලා ගියා. සමහරු අපේ වටිනා දේවල් ගත්තා. සමහරු ඇඳුම පිටින්ම ගියා.
එහෙදී මුහුදෙන් ගියා. උදේ 6.00ට බෝට්ටුවට නැගලා කල්පිටියට 4.00 ගියා. එරුක්ලම්පිටියේ මන්නාරමේ සෙනග සිය ගාණක් ඇවිත් බැස්සා. කිසිම පහසුකමක් නැහැ. පසුව කට්ටිය බෙදලා කල්පිටිය, නොරොච්චේලේ කියලා යැව්වා. ආයතන ඇවිත් උදව් කළා.
එහෙ ගිහින් අවුරුදු විස්සක් හිටියා. ආයෙත් 2001 වසරේ අපේ ගමට ඇවිත් ගෙවල් සුද්ද කරලා පල්ලියේ හිටියා. පසුව ගොවිතැන් කිරීමට එක් ආයතනයකින් වී, සල්ලි, උපකරණ ආදිය දුන්නා. 2009 දී නැවත ආවා. ගෙවල් වැඩසටහනක් ආවා. ගෙවල් හදන්න දෙන්නේ නෑ කීවා. එය වැවට අයිති ඉඩම කියලා ගෙවල් හදන්න දෙන්නේ නෑ කීවා. එය අපි ගොවිතැන් කළ ඉඩම. පසුව වෙනත් අයෙකුගේ ඉඩමේ තමා ගෙවල් හැදුවේ. පසුව වැසිකිලි හදන්න වැඩසටහනක් ආවා. කරදර අතරේ ඒකත් හදා ගත්තා.
මට ළමයි හතර දෙනයි. එක ළමයෙක් පුත්තලමේ දී නැති වුනා. දැන් ළමයි තුන් දෙනෙක් ඉන්නවා. පුත්තලමේ ගෙදර අතඇරලා දාලා තමයි මෙහෙ ආවේ. ඒත් මෙහෙ ඉන්න ගොවි සංවිධානේ සභාපති මේ විදියට ගෙවල් හදන්න අනුමැතිය දෙන්නේ නැහැ. ප්‍රශ්න දායි කියලා දැනගෙන හිටියා නම් පුත්තලමෙම ඉන්නවා.
එක දවසක් ගොවි සංවිධානයේ රැස්වීම පැවැත්වුනා. අලුත් සභාපති හැටියට මාව පත්කරන්න කැමති කවුද කියලා ලොක්කා ඇහුවම තිස්දෙනෙක් අත ඉස්සුවා. හිටපු සභාපතිම දිගටම තියාගන්න කැමති කවුද කියලා ඇහුවම තුන් දෙනෙක් විතරක් අත ඉස්සුවා. ඒත් හිටපු සභාපති අදම වෙනස් කරන්න එපා ආපු කට්ටිය අඩුයි. ඊළග රැස්වීමේ දී මාරු කරමු කියලා විරුද්ධ වුනා. ඔහු ළග ගොයම් කපන මැෂින් දෙකක් තියෙනවා. ඒ දෙකම අපේ නමට ගන්න ඕන. අනික ඒවා ගත්තේ මහජන මුදලින්.
අනාගතයේ දී හැමෝම ජාති ආගම් භේද නොමැතිව ලොකුකම් නොමැතිව සතුටින් හා එකමුතුව ඉන්න ඕන. මට අමතක කරන්න බැරි සිද්ධිය නම් එල් ටී ටී ප්‍රශ්නයෙන් ජනතාව අවතැන් වෙලා පුත්තලමට ගිය එක. ඒක මට අමතක කරන්න බෑ.

புதுவழி என்ற கிராமத்திலே பிறந்தேன். 1957ம் ஆண்டு வெள்ளம் வந்தது. எனக்கு 5 வயது இருக்கும். எங்கேயும் தண்ணீர் மயமாகக் காணப்பட்டது. இருட்டு அப்ப கரண்ட் இல்ல. குளக்கட்டு வழியா போய் பள்ளிக்குப் போனா பள்ளியில இடமில்ல. ஊர்சனமெல்லாம் பள்ளியிலதான் இருக்கு. பள்ளியில் போய் இருந்தோம். மறுநாள் சிலாவத்துறையில் இருந்தோம். அங்கு 3 நாட்கள் இருந்தோம்.
அதற்குப் பிறகுதான் இங்க வந்து குடியேறினோம். இது ஆரம்பத்தில காடாத்தான் இருந்தது. பிறகு சரி பண்ணி 10 குடும்பங்கள் இருந்தது. பிறகு சொந்தக்காரங்கள் மற்ற இடங்களில இருந்து வந்து இப்ப 50 குடும்பங்களுக்கு கிட்ட இருக்கு
1990ம் ஆண்டு இடம்பெயர்ந்து கற்பிட்டி புத்தளம் போன்ற கிராமங்களுக்குச் சென்றோம். LTTE பிரச்சினையால் முஸ்ஸீம் மக்கள் 24 மணி நேரத்திற்குள் வெளியேற வேண்டும் என்று கூறியதற்க அமைவாக இடம் பெயர்ந்து சென்றோம். சில பேர் கையில் முக்கியமான பொருட்கள் சிலவற்றை எடுத்தனர். சிலர் உடுத்திய ஆடையுடன் சென்றனர். அங்கு கடலால் சென்றோம்.. காலையில 6 மணிக்கு போர்டில் ஏறி கல்பிட்டியில 4 மணிக்கு கரையேறினோம். நூற்றுக்கணக்கில எருக்கலம்பிட்டி, மன்னார் என்று சனம் வந்து இறங்குது. எந்த வசதியுமில்ல. பிறகு ஆட்களை பிரிச்சி பிரிச்சி கல்பிட்டி நுரைச்சோலை என்று அனுப்பினாங்க. நிறுவனங்கள் வந்து உதவி செய்தது.
அங்கு போய் 20 வருடங்கள் இருந்தோம். மீண்டும் 2001 ம் ஆண்டு எங்கட சொந்த கிராமத்திற்கு வந்து வீடுகளைத் துப்பரவாக்கி விட்டு பள்ளியில் ஒரு குடில் அமைத்து இருந்தோம். பிறகு விவசாயம் செய்வதற்காக ஒரு நிறுவனத்தினரால் நெல் காசு சாமான் என்பவற்றைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
2009ம் ஆண்டு மீண்டும் வந்தோம். வீட்டுத் திட்டம் வந்தது. கட்ட விட மாட்டோம் என்று கூறினார்கள். அது குளத்திற்கான காணி என்டு வீடு கட்ட விடமாட்டன் என்கிறாங்க அதுலதான் முந்தி தோட்டம் செய்து கொண்டு இருக்கிறோம். பிறகு வேறு ஒருத்தர்ட காணியிலதான் கட்டின. பிறகு மலசலகூடம் கட்டவதற்கு திட்டம் வந்தது. பிரச்சினைப் பட்டு கட்டி விட்டோம்.
எனக்கு 4 பிள்ளைகள். 1 பிள்ளை பத்தளத்திலே இறந்து விட்டார். இப்போது 3 பிள்ளைகள் இருக்கின்றார்கள். புத்தளத்தில் இருந்த வீட்டை விற்று விட்டுத்தான் இங்கே வந்தோம். ஆனால் இங்கு உள்ள விவசாய அமைப்புத் தலைவர் இப்பிடி வீடு கட்டுவதற்கு அனுமதி தராது பிரச்சினை பண்ணுவார் என்று தெரிந்திருந்தால் புத்தளத்திலேயே இருந்திருப்பேன்.
அன்று ஒருநாள் விவசாய அமைப்புக்கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது. அப்போது புதிய தலைவராக என்னை தெரிவுசெய்ய யாருக்கு விருப்பம் என்று பெரியவர் கேட்டபோது 30 பேர் கையை உயர்த்தினர். பழைய தலைவரையே மீண்டும் வைக்க யாருக்கு விருப்பம் என வெறும் 3 பேரே ஆகவே பழைய தலைவர் இன்று மாற்ற வேண்டாம் வந்த மக்கள் குறைவு அடுத்த கூட்டத்தில் மாற்றுவோம் என்று சத்தமிட்டு முரண்பட்டார்கள். அவரிடம் 2 உழவு இயந்திரங்கள் உண்டு. அவை இரண்டுமே மக்களின் பேரில் சாமான் எடுத்து அதை விற்று வந்த காசு மற்றும் மக்களின் காசிலே இந்த உழவு இயந்திரங்களை எடுத்தார்.
எதிர்காலத்தில் எல்லா மக்களும் இன மத பேதமின்றி தலைக்கனமின்றி சந்தோசமாகவும் ஒற்றுமையாகவும் வாழ வேண்டும் என்பதேயாகும். என்னால் மறக்க முடியாத சம்பவம் என்னவென்றால் LTTE பிரச்சினையால் மக்கள் புத்தளத்திற்கு இடம் பெயர்ந்து சென்றதையே என்னால் மறக்க முடியாது.
