I was born in the village called Komari. My father was a farmer. There were 09 siblings in my family, 06 elder brothers, 02 elder sisters. I’m the youngest.

I got married in 1985. I have two children. One is a boy. The other one is a girl. They were both educated. My son is the eldest. He is married now. He works in a boutique. My husband is a farmer. My eldest daughter is not married yet. The reason is that she is still unemployed.

We faced severe hardships in 1990 due to terrorism. I carried my two children aged 5 and 3 to Vinayagam at night by foot. The following day we went to the village and saw many people including the sons of my mother’s elder sister have been murdered. We were afraid and set out for a safe area.

Property and lives in our village were destroyed due to Tsunami in 2004. We were in the church when the Tsunami stuck. My daughter was at the house and the husband in the paddy field. My son and I went to Sangamankandy. We couldn’t find our daughter. Mother died. I broke my leg. I was rendered helpless.

My children should get good jobs and their lives should prosper. My husband should be looked after throughout his life.

I got a tremendous relief by revealing my problems to others. I feel relaxed now.

We got a tremendous support from Sewa Lanka and other private institutions.

Some institutions raised our awareness through seminars and discussions.

Peace is very important.

I must thank God for saving us from Tsunami and terrorism.
