I was born in Komari and the number of members of my family is 06. My father was a farmer. I was born to a farmer family and I have two brothers and one sister and they suffered a lot. My mother is an ordinary woman. Since we were so small we faced severe economic hardships.

I got married in 2010. I have one child. My husband did not have a job until 2014 and suffered a lot. Now my husband got a good job and a sufficient income to lead a good life.

Although our parents suffered economic difficulties they educated us. I studied well and got A’s two C’s. We, the four brothers studied up to the A/levels. I hope to educate my children than my parents educated us.

Most of our property was damaged due to the Tsunami in 26.12.2004. We lost our food, clothes and a place to live. This Tsunami changed our lives drastically.

Our parents suffered a lot due to the terrorist activities from 1989 – 1990. My mother’s brother also died due to this. This gave a severe pain to my mother and my family. My father went to the forest to cut firewood. There the terrorists killed him. As a result of this the situation of our family became very serious.

I hope that our society, friends, our future generation and the children should live in peace and with prosperity without worries, pains, natural disasters and wars.

These memories of this incident were vague and small in my mind but when it was shared it has grown like a big tree. I can’t believe that. The past was full of grief.

STF helped us in the Tsunami. They provided us with clothes, food and accommodation.

Private institutions like Red Cross, Sewa Lanka, SOS helped us a lot.

When we think about the past it soothed our minds.

At the end of my daily chore I pray to God for the betterment of my family. Our aim is to lead a happy life in the future.
